Roberto sent us a 9-page instructions (complete with photographs) on how to get to his place. We followed his instructions step-by-step and he wasn’t at home when we arrived.
Our room was upstairs and had a separate entrance. We appreciated that we had the privacy of having our own space.
New sheets were left for us to put on ourselves. We would need to put them in the laundry basket on our way out.
We had a separate bathroom of our own but its layout was weird. One had to sit in the bathtub to shower (due to the slope of the roof) and there was no shower curtain preventing the floor from getting wet.
The location is quite good; it is within walking distance of Porta Genova metro station and there are many restaurants and bars nearby.
We only met Roberto for a short while in the evening. He seemed a friendly and nice chap but couldn’t really answer my question regarding whether Malpensa Express was still running when there was a transportation strike (it was). We also wanted to leave our bags in his apartment the next day after check-out but he couldn’t find the spare keys. Hence we wasn’t able to and had to bring our bags around the following day.
Despite all the good reviews, the stay was just okay. I wouldn’t rush to return.
